As a replacement for the polycom CX200 phone, there are rumors of a “improved” model to hit the market after the OCS 2007 R2 release

As promised a few days ago, i have found a picture of this device, but i have no other details than it will be a USB device as the CX200 was.
[UPDATE] feb. 2009

The above rumor was somewhat right. Polycom is working on a new device, but not at an replacement for CX200. The new device may look as below, and may get the name CX300. But i font think we will be able to buy this before Q3 or Q4 2009

The new OCS will feature a few new server roles including the Monitoring Server

Key Features:
  • Single server for all monitoring
  • Immediate access to call data
  • Usage reporting/ROI analysis
  • Export into billing, compliance, asset mgmt systems

Below you can find the Hardware Recommendations for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 enterprise edition:

Front-end server:

  • x64 Dual Quad-Core CPU or 4 way Dual-Core CPU
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 10K rpm disk drives

Back-end SQL server:

  • x64 Dual Quad-Core CPU or 4 way Dual-Core CPU
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 10K or 15K RPM disk drives (multiple disks)

Other servers :

  • use Front-end or Back-end spec as appropriate

I expect that the recommendations for Standard Edition deployments will be similar

On the Microsoft TechNet website, Microsoft has collected all the certified devices for OC 2007 & OC 2007 R2

We can expect some new releases of devices after MS puts R2 on the street. I have heard Polycom will be improving the CX200 USB handset with a NUM pad.
