After installing Communicator Web Access on a Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Front End server, the CWA page is not displayed when access the CWA URL using Internet Explorer.

No error is shown when accessing the URL of the CWA web site. Only a blank page is shown, without any error message.

Reading the IIS log files shows that no activity is generated by the client requests.

Cause:

This error is caused by the insufficient rights of the CWAService account used by the application pool. To verify that this is the problem, access the application pools in IIS manager and modify the Identity of the application pool to LocalSystem (this is for test purpose only) Now verify that the page is displayed as it should and that login is possible.

Solution:

To fix this the easy way is to remove the Communicator Web Access installation and delete the CWAService Account. The reinstall the CWA component and recreate the CWAService account by using the setup program.
